Well .. to start off, I thought of talking about the name of my blog. "Enjoy maaDi" :)
"Enjoy maaDi" is a slang in kannada which just means "Enjoy". Its as simple as that.
I picked up this phrase from non-kannidagas. The popularity is because of its simplicity. Wow! how rhyming :) Its simple because all you have to know is the keyword "maaDi", what it means and how to pronunce it. "maaDi" translates to "Do" and is pronunced as "maa-Di" - D as in "Deep".
The funniest thing about this is that when you translate it word to word. "Enjoy maaDi" translates to "Do Enjoy". Of-course its actually "Enjoy Do" but the words are swapped for it to make atleast lil sense :)
OK now for some history, how did the phrase evolve? It all started with a pure kannada phrase "majA maaDi" which means "Enjoy". Back to square one .. he hee he :)
Now if you want to show off your kannada skills all you need to do is pick up an english verb and add "maaDi" in the end. Omitting the Kannada word "maaDi" means you are not using kannada in your conversation. So, not cool man !
Other popular ones I like : Chill maaDi, Phone maaDi, Hang-out maaDi, Code maaDi, Test maadi, Blog maaDi ... and so many more.

Hi , Enjoy Maa-Di - a good topic to start with. Using slangs like this will not only sound cool and trendy, but also gives an hint of what we r conveying . This might encourage non-kannadiga folks to learn and use kannada. I will be a regular reader of ur blogs. Post maa-Di such good blogs.

I have been in a non-kannadiga group here in Sweden and the most popularly used slang here is "Enjoy Maadi". Its nice to know that such a small phrase has made itself so much of popularity.
People have started to use for technical purposes too...like "Select Maadi", "Cut Maadi", "Paste Maadi", "Click Maadi", "Close Maadi" and so on...
Truely...it is just one Kannada word "Maadi" with the combination of an English word which gives the exact effect!!!. Ops i am explaining so much, looks like i can open a blog myself... ha ha ha... Rashmi neevu "Blog Maadi"
