Flashback ...

These are few of the things my daughter Dhriti used to do when she was 11 months .. I leave it to you to imagine her actual actions .. enjoy reading

we say "clap clap clap"
she claps her hands with a big grin

we say "show me your tounge"
out comes her tounge so quickly that u cant imagine J

we say "show ...." yet to finish and out comes her tounge :))

we say "dance baby dance .. dance dance dance"
she starts to shake her bum (if not anything else)

we say "whistle"
she tries to but fails and ultimately ends up only blowing air

we say " gimme a fi"
she raises her hand to give a fi(ve)

we say "cough"
she tries hard (really hard) and makes a sound similar to coughing

we ask “where is No.26”
she points to the door no. and starts talking gibberish

few more ...

she knows where there are red lights glowing in the house ... you say red light in any place be it in the kitchen or the bathroom, she shows the aquaguard lights, the automatic water motor red light / the gyeser switch and any mosquito repellents light :)

she pulls everyone's hair .. but then whoever gets their hair pulled should not make any noise :) ...if they squeak or let out a harsh cry , then she starts crying :)

she sings her own lullaby when she is going to sleep :) (well .. she knows that mama is not a good singer ) and when she is not sleepy, she does'nt want us to sleep either ... she crawls over us and does all sorts of stunts to keep us awake :))

she turns back and start crawling fast when we try to catch her... This actually is a sequence .. she crawls a bit, sits for sometime and gives a suspicious look at us :) ... if we get up or pretend to get up she thinks we are trying to catch her and she immediately goes into crawling mode and starts accelerating fast :-D ...
this is fun to watch ...

another thing is she is little scared of few things ... like there is one huge teddy .. almost double her size ..if she sees it she turns back and start crawling as fast as she can , let alone what if teddy attacks others :)) she does'nt care of anyone and she tries to save herself from that monster :)

Monday Blue(s) .. Caught the tag flu ..

I’ve been tagged by Ano and that too on a Monday Morning ! This is the first time somebody has tagged me. Took a long time for this and finally here "I" am..

I’m thinking about:
a rhyming word for "Blues" to be used along with "Tag". Mutual funds .. is it worth investing? My daughter.. what prank wud she be playing on her ajji? What to write in this tag and whom to tag?

I said:
"Bye". I hate to see my daughter's expression when I say this.

I want to:
spend more time with my daughter (time flies when I am with her). I want to meet my best friends who are abroad right now (missing them a lot). I want to go on a holiday. I want to read more, blog more, earn more :) I want to climb up the career ladder fast.

I wish:
I were a child. I wish children never ever fall sick. I wish "SARVE JANA SUKHINO BHAVANTU".

I hear:
UPS ticking. My desk is right next to the UPS room :( I hear somebody's phone ringing on and on. Why does'nt he/she pick it up? The least he/she cud do is to keep the ringing volume low. Oh .. its getting too irritating !

I wonder:
why children fall sick. Its hard on parents to see their small ones suffer. I wonder what's going on in my daughter's lil brain when she is upto some mischief or the other. I wonder how healthy I will be after 10 more years?

I regret:
not studying further.

I am:
social, fun-loving, lazy, down-to-earth, impatient, short tempered, sensitive, moody.

I dance:
to the tunes of my daughter :)

I sing:
very badly. So badly that my daughter sings her own lullaby :(

I cry:
when somebody raises their voice at me. I cry when I am angry. I cry when I see my loved ones in tears.

I’m not always:
humourous, punctual, hard-working, good-cook.

I make with my hands:
gentle taps on my daughter's forehead so that she goes to sleep. sometimes sketch/draw.

I write:
ok kinds not so good. I write to improve. I write mostly abt my daughter.

I confuse:
ppl when I am excited. I try to hurry up saying what I want to say leaving them confused and ending up saying it all over again. I confuse "testers" by explaining my code's logic.

I need:
lots of sleep. I need ppl around. I need to get out of the house atleast once in a day. I need my own personal space.

And finally:
the toughest part for me :(

I can only think of Adi and Nithin.

First Onsite Experience

Thot of blogging abt it when I came across Adity's Blog. Well, the topic is sure interesting but wait till u read my story and you will find it funny.

Our project was in last phases of completion and one of my colleague was to travel to Rome to implement it. (Un)fortunately for some reason he did not get his visa. So the company decided to try for my visa. I had to travel to Delhi consulate for my visa. I was very nervous thinking abt the kind of Q's they will ask. It brought my college memories back, it was like the day before viva. But lady luck smiled and I never imagined I would get the visa so easily.

I was to fly directly from Delhi to London and then to Rome. Since it was all of a sudden and I absoltuley had no time, I had to hurry up shopping .. phew ! Large suitcases, winter clothing, shoes etc. I still remember shopping for thermals at Eastern store on comm. st. I did a bit of shopping at Delhi too.

Anyway, the flight to London was very long and boring. I slept most of the time. I reached Heathrow and was excited to see the bright and colourful airport. What thrilled me most was the Ferrari that stood there. There was some lucky draw and you cud win the Ferrari if you participate in the draw. I quietly moved away from that place after I heard the entry-price for the draw. It was 80 pounds! :o

The 2hr journey to Rome was short and sweet. I cud see the swiss mountains clad with snow. It was the most beautiful view I had ever seen. I have captured a few pics of them.

Rome is a beautiful old city. Old houses, old buildings, old roads ... though most of them were built long back (some of them were more than 100 yrs old) they had some charm in them. To add to the beauty of the city, every street was decorated with colourful lights as christmas was round the corner. I was staying in a hotel at a place called 'Cinicitta'. It was an area where most of films are shot. Every morning I cud see joggers with their pet dogs drop-in at the hotel for coffee. Sometimes after office I used just walk around before catching a metro back to hotel.

It goes without saying that work at client's place was hectic. Work-pressures, bad food, loneliness etc. started creeping in. I started missing home. I was not sure when the work wud get over and was waiting to go back. The uncertainity was killing me.

One evening when I was roaming arnd the city, we came across a "wishing fountain". Btw forgot to mention that there are many old fountains in Rome. I had only one coin.I dropped it in the fountain, closed my eyes and made a wish. I "wished to go back home ASAP".

The next day I came to know that the client offices wud be closed down for christams for nearly 10-15 days. So our company decided that I come back to blore and go again. Voila ! I had least expected my wish to come true so soon.

In a hurry I shopped for gifts and started back to India. I had plans of going back and visit the neighboring places after christmas. Lil did I know that there was a twist in the story. After I came back home I became so senti & emotional that I dint want to go back :( However beautiful the outside world is nothing like "Home Sweet Home".

I still regret my childish behaviour and also regret wasting one precious wish. But I guess there's always a next time :)

Mobile jargon

la la la ..(some fancy ringtone ) .. goes my cellphone ..

I pick it up ..

xyz asks "Where are you?"

When someone calls me and asks "Where are you?" I wonder "Did they call me to find out where I am?" Well, I really don't understand how it matters. They can go ahead and talk to me rather then finding out where I am and then coming to the point. Sometimes you are in such awkward situation that you dont want to answer the question.

Why the Q in the first place? What's the curiosity all about? Does it help them in anyway? Unless of-course they are seriously hunting for you to strangle you for some goof-up you did :)

Not that I dont use this phrase. I intentionally use it when I call my hubby ;) It irritates him and pleases me. Ok now coming back, the point I was trying to make here is that, have you ever noticed how this phrase "Where are you" is so popular amongst cellphone users. It is in-fact fast replacing the traditional "hello"? Instead of first greeting the person you called, all you want to know is ...

Update: I also realised how "tell me" has also become so popular. And not to mention the "missed call" concept.
